Lara-Prieto, Vianney

Overview

Vianney Lara-Prieto graduated as Mechatronics Engineer from Tecnologico de Monterrey and holds a PhD in Smart Materials from Loughborough University in the UK. She is the Academic Projects Director of the School of Engineering and Science at Tecnologico de Monterrey. She leads Mechatronics Engineering capstone projects strongly linked with industry joining efforts to propose innovative solutions to real-life challenges. She is an IEEE, WIE and IEEE-HKN member. She leads the linkage committee of the national initiative MIC (Women in Engineering and Sciences).
Vianney Lara-Prieto holds a Ph.D. in Mechatronics Engineering from Loughborough University, UK, and a bachelor degree in Mechatronics Engineer from Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico. She is Division Director at the School of Engineering and Sciences, Tecnologico de Monterrey. She is an IEEE, WIE, and IEEE-HKN member. She is also actively involved in OWSD Mexico´s Chapter, LACCEI executive board, Matilda Latin-American Chair executive board, and Ingenia Women in Engineering and Sciences. Her current research lines are Challenge-Based Learning, Educational Innovation, and Women in STEM. Vianney belongs to the Socially Oriented Interdisciplinary STEM Education Research Group (SOI-STEM) at the Institute for the Future of Education. Vianney, together with a team of professors, is a former winner of two silver awards (Discipline: Engineering & IT; Region: Latin America) at QS Reimagine Education 2019 with the project "Hands-on experience with Star Wars Robotics".
