Martell-Chávez, Fernando

Overview

Fernando has a B.S. in Electronic Systems Engineering, a M.Sc. in Energy Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Electronic Systems all from Tecnologico de Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, in 1993, 2007, and 2012, respectively. He worked with AMIGE from 1994 to 2002, implementing automation and optimization projects. In 2002, he founded Ingenieria Mecatronica, S.A., and worked in this company as engineering manager. Since 2017, he has been an engineering researcher at Centro de Investigaciones en Optica, A.C., Aguascalientes, Mexico, working in technology development in areas, such as power electronics, energy efficiency, mechatronics, robotics and cyberphysical systems. He has been a member of the National Researchers System, CONACYT, Mexico. (2014-2017, and since 2020).
I have worked in AMIGE (former Automatización y Modernización Industrial S.A.) and in Ingeniería Mecatrónica, S.A. implementing industrial automation projects for several industries like steelmaking, cement and automotive in plants located across Mexico, USA, Canada and UK. I have successfully implemented optimization projects including power demand controls, electrode arc regulation (for electric arc furnaces) and optimized fuel consumption in reheat and tempering furnaces. I have expertise in diverse automation technologies including PLC's, Motor Drives, HMI's and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
