Esqueda-Merino, Donovan Manuel

Overview

Holder of a BSc in Mechatronics Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, a MScR in Information, Systems and Technologies and an industrial PhD in Automatic Control and Energy Management from top french universities (École Normale Supérieure de Cachan and École Supérieure d'Electricité). He has over 10-year experience leading engineering and innovation teams and projects in diverse industries (supply chain, access control, metal-mechanics, automotive, optics, financial services, food & beverage, energy, hospitality and education) both in France and Mexico. His professional experience has allowed him to develop a holistic view of product design along its lifecycle, with activities including research and development, sales and maintenance, portfolio management and development of innovation strategies. Founder of a start-up focused in the design of smart products, and of an advanced mobility center. In the first company, he led and designed projects such as an automatic vending machine for coffee pods for Nestlé, available in more than 150 departamental stores in Mexico and Latin America. In his second company, of more recent creation, he is working to develop solutions for motorsport and electrical mobility. Professor of Tecnológico de Monterrey since 2015 with courses related to Technology-Based Product Design and Innovation and Process Automation for undergraduate level and for the Master of Engineering Managament (MEM). Has led students to awards at design contests (PACE Reconfigurable Shared-Use Mobility System, Person Urban-Mobility Access, Dyson Awards) and he obtained himself a first place in RetoCDMX2020 Hackaton with a proposal of recycled plastic electrical scooter. Since August 2021, he was promoted as Program Director for Mechatronics Engineering at Campus Estado de México. He has presented at different research and entrepreneurship conferences (INCmty, Campus Party, Circuito Emprendedor). Has 10 congress articles, 1 journal article, 1 book chapter and 5 patents. He obtained in 2021 the New Product Development Professional Certification by the Product Development and Management Association, the Project Management Certification by Google and the Data Practitioner Certification by IBM; in 2020 he obtained the Managing Innovation and Design Thinking certification by HEC Paris and in 2006 as Radio Frequency-Identification Supply Chain Manager by ISCEA. He was recently recognized as ExpertODS by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network MX2030.
