abstract

  • © 2002 IEEE. In this article, Reservation Code Multiple Access (RCMA) to integrate services in a DS-CDMA cellular system carrying multirate traffic, voice and A data types is evaluated. The multiuser interference factor, the probability of a successful transmission given other users are transmitting, and an homogeneous transmission line rate are considered in the analysis. The capacity of the number of users supported as a function of the user type w i t h the highest service quality is obtained. System performance in terms of speech packets dropping probability, message loss probability and data packet average delay is evaluated. We conclude that CDMA system capacity is improved if RCMA is used to control access and that capacity depends on the service quality to provide.
