abstract
In the published version of this article, Figure 4 does not correspond to its accompanying legend. An incorrect figure file was inadvertently included during the final stages of manuscript preparation. The correct Figure 4 is provided in this Corrigendum and illustrates the mechanisms of cellular damage induced by ceramides, whereby excess ceramide accumulation disrupts insulin signaling, mitochondrial function, and endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis, promoting oxidative stress, inflammation, and lipotoxicity, ultimately contributing to metabolic dysfunction and cell death. This correction does not affect the results, interpretation, or conclusions of the article. The authors apologize for this error and any inconvenience it may have caused.(Figure presented) © 2025 European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism.
