  • This article aims to analyze the discourse and sentiments of the campaign of Rodolfo Hernández, candidate for the presidency of Colombia during the period from January to June 2022. In this sense, information is taken from the social network Twitter® (currently X) to contribute to studies that seek to understand political participation, with a focus on communication, in the context of an election campaign and the use of social networks. Based on the collection of 896 tweets, which were processed through the academictwitteR package and analyzed for content and sentiment from the syuzhet package, elements are identified that account for the perception and feelings generated by Hernández¿s speech on Twitter® during the 2022 presidential elections in Colombia. The results show that 60 % of candidate¿s messages alluded to positive feelings during the study period. In addition, he tended to generate feelings associated with the emotion of trust. The candidate¿s discourse sought to emphasize issues such as citizen security and the transparency of political and democratic processes. © 2025. Universidad de San Buenaventura Cali.
