abstract
- Modern lifestyles often leave individuals with limited time or expertise for the precise, consistent care that plants require. The EcoGrow project introduces a smart greenhouse prototype designed to solve this by integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for optimized and automated personal plant care. The system achieves real-time environmental control using a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller connected to sensors that monitor critical factors such as temperature, ambient humidity, soil moisture, and UV light. A core feature is the integration of Gemini AI (LLM 1.5) to enhance functionality: the AI identifies the plant species from a user-uploaded image and subsequently generates tailored recommendations and controls actuators based on real-time sensor data. All environmental and operational data is transmitted to an Oracle APEX web dashboard and a dedicated mobile app, enabling real-time visualization and remote interaction. The project results successfully validate the system¿s effectiveness in real-time data transmission and automated control, transforming small-scale plant maintenance into an accessible, resource-efficient process. EcoGrow ultimately supports more sustainable practices and aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 12 and 13 by promoting resource efficiency and climate action.
