Material and method: A set of 20 variables were selected and grouped into the following categories: (i) teaching staff; (ii) hospital organisation; (iii) educational program, and (iv) overall opinion. Results: A gradient scale of the suitability of the clinical site was designed, and validated, with 55% of the clinical sites being at an acceptable level and 45% being unacceptable below. Conclusion: This tool permitted the quality of the clinical sites used by the medical residents to be measured using a gradient scale.
