Therefore, to avoid operational problems, dehydration/desalting plants are installed in crude oil production units to remove water-soluble salts from an oil stream. In this paper, a well-designed dehydration/desalting plant of crude oil is modeled and simulated in dynamic mode using Aspen HYSYS®. Furthermore, control strategies are implemented to maintain international standard quality values in the resulting crude oil. Finally, the behavior of the system under typical and proposed control structures is compared.
