This bridge is one of the most important in Mexico and since 2013 it has a structural health monitoring system, therefore, it was possible to monitor its structural behaviour during and after the failure. In addition, once the rehabilitation and inspection strategies were established and initiated, it was possible to monitor each stage to recover the structural integrity and to evaluate its impact on the overall condition of the bridge. This work describes the use of the SHM information to evaluate the bridge´s condition, to plan maintenance activities based on technical information and to evaluate immediately effectiveness of each rehabilitation step, making improvements during the process without delays or additional costs.
