abstract

  • © 2019 CBMS-0001.We introduce a new method of double emulsion generation using centrifugal microfluidic platforms or Lab-On-a-CDs (LOCDs). This LOCD device includes stratified fluids in a way that the generated core droplets can pass through different fluids to be covered by ultra-thin layers of other fluids. It is concluded that in general, the higher the rotational frequency, the smaller the droplets. Moreover, higher rotational frequencies lead to less uniformity of droplets. In addition to the experimentally analyzed data, other parameters like the velocity of the droplets are calculated by numerical simulations to characterize this method as much as possible.
