Implicit FEM set up for evaluating FDA mechanical performance parameters on Balloon Expandable Stent

© 2020 IEEE.Ischemic heart disease is the main cause of the death among Mexican population. The use of vascular endoprosthesis called Stent are the most successful treatment present for severe cases. Stent design is now day conducted mainly by explicit FEA simulation software, which are in general highly expensive in term of computer and time wise. This paper presents the necessary setup, on an implicit FEA software, to perform the FDA mandatory mechanical parameter performance assessment. The later would allow the use of low-cost hardware and software tools on the design of the prothesis.
