  • © Proceedings of the 2020 IISE Annual. All Rights Reserved.Industry 4.0 (I4.0) has emerged to revolutionize the world, and with it, digitization and advanced technologies have come. Companies and organizations in various countries have worked hard to adopt the initiative that proposes to improve how the enterprises¿ operations are performed. This, by facilitating them a digital interconnection between all the elements involved throughout the value chain to make decisions in real-time. This article aims to provide general information about the readiness of Mexico and its industry in terms of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. A literature review of existing models for the I4.0 adoption was performed to set a context to assess the Mexican industrial scenario. Through this analysis of the models, the areas of opportunity and challenges to achieve a favorable adoption of I4.0 in the Mexican industry are identified. As a result, the main challenges that the country will face in the journey to adopt the I4.0 initiative are acknowledged and discussed. Finally, some possible actions to support the implementation of the industrial tendency are presented.
