Epistemic prudence is the social ability to influence others for socio-cognitive purposes. As a pragmatic skill epistemic prudence consists not only in a description of the empirical origins of error (this is only empirical psychology), but in the social ability to avoid error and other cognitive ills resulting from logical selfishness and other epistemic vices.
