abstract
- This paper presents a comparative study on improving Engagement towards Sustainable Development (SD) in undergraduate students from Product Design Bachelor. The research has been conducted at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico on three industrial design groups: two control groups with regular courses on SD and one Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) group linked to the Universidad Católica de República Dominicana. Data was collected from a total of 76 students through an online questionnaire delivered by google forms, as well as using a facial expressions recognition software (Seemetrix) to analyze students' attention during class. After analyzing the results using Jamovi open software, the independent sample t-test affirms that COIL is a successful teaching approach to improve Behavioral, Cognitive and Emotional Engagement towards SD in Product Design higher education.
