abstract
- This study focuses on the development of a film based on electrospun fibers for the encapsulation of quercetin, to be applied as an antiradical and anti-lipid peroxidation system. Electrospun nanofibers based on Eudragit EPO (Eud EPO) and sodium hyaluronate (SH) with diameters ranging between 600 and 800 nm, and with smooth and/or rough surfaces were developed. Quercetin was successfully incorporated to the electrospun fiber system (¿92.1 %). Surprisingly, the free nanofibers showed great antiradical, reducing, and lipid antiperoxidation capacities. These properties were enhanced with the incorporation of quercetin, generating an enhanced synergistic effect. A film based on electrospun nanofibers with excellent biological properties was created through a simple method. Diverse bioactive compounds may enhance such biological properties. This system would have great potential for application within the biomedical sector. © 2024
