abstract
- DC-DC converters are increasingly crucial in applications such as renewable energy generation, energy storage systems, and electromobility to design drivers and power trains. This article presents an innovative step-up DC-DC converter that combines the interleaving principle with the principle of the diode capacitor voltage multiplier. Its main advantages are (i) a larger gain compared to the interleaved boost and (ii) its two inductors require less inductance (for equal rating) than the ones in the twophase interleaved boost converter for a similar operation. The reduced inductance offers a clear advantage, leading to smaller inductors by reducing their stored energy. The proposed topology is versatile, allowing for the development of a series of scalable type of converters. This article provides the mathematical description and experimental validation to prove the proposed converter. © 2024 IEEE.
