The Sense of Care: Understanding Our Common Fragility in Violent Times Book in Scopus uri icon

abstract

  • Since the second half of the twentieth century, even if the topic of care has been an aspect of the ethical and philosophical discussion, it is still an underestimated condition of the human being. This means that even when care is part of the human condition, its value is diminished, and care is seen as nonproductive action within society. However, care and its different expressions underline a sense of fragility and community, as it demands that we reshape our relations in other forms of understanding ourselves and our identities to find alternatives to the different forms of violence. This text shows how reconsidering care in its value can be an alternative to promoting other forms to face conflict in a non-violent form inside contemporary societies. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
