abstract

  • This chapter addresses the challenges of ensuring food security in the context of climate change and sustainability. It examines how climate change impacts agriculture by affecting crop cycles and increasing vulnerability in rural communities. Solutions such as adaptation with climate-resistant crops and sustainable irrigation are highlighted. The role of renewable energy and energy efficiency in the sustainability of the food system is also discussed. Furthermore, the opportunities offered by digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence and sensors, to improve food production and distribution are explored. However, barriers such as lack of infrastructure and training are identified. Finally, the need for public policies that promote the adoption of these technologies and adopt social inclusion and sustainability is emphasized. © 2026 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
