abstract
- This study presents a specialized digital damage assessment of a reinforced concrete bridge in Mexico exhibiting premature deterioration after only three years of service. The investigation focuses on identifying pathologies such as drying shrinkage cracks and water seepage, potentially driven by low quality concrete materials and inadequate curing during construction. Due to drone restrictions near an airport, a rigorous methodology was developed using high-resolution photography from mobile elevating platforms to capture the entire sub-structure. A chemical contrast solution (85% acetone, 15% water) was applied to enhance the visibility of micro-fissures. The resulting 2,730 images were processed and integrated into a ¿digital twin¿ via AutoCAD, allowing for a precise, scaled mapping of structural defects. This systematic approach provides an essential foundation for subsequent diagnostic phases, including core extraction and electrochemical monitoring, ensuring that repair strategies are based on a high-fidelity representation of the structure¿s current state and long-term durability requirements.
