This chapter analyzes three Mexican national digital newspapers: El Universal, La Jornada, and Reforma. From a corpus of 95 news articles, 609 (100%) fragments were identified and extracted. Among these fragments, 497 (81.6%) contain language that represents migrant women, while 112 (18.4%) identify informational sources. This study is both qualitative and quantitative in order to examine how these digital press news articles addressed the topic of migrant women from October 2018 to September 2019. Three primary frames and several subcategories were initially identified concerning the main findings. These frames relate to the portrayal of migrant women as victims of their environment, a general profile of migrant women, and the itinerary, the overall journey, that outlines the situations they face in their quest to reach the United States. The overall narrative of female migration in the press suggests that women are fleeing from violence and discrimination. During their transit through Mexico, they are highlighted in situations of conflict as well as in terms of their migratory status, necrostatistics, perseverance, and desistance. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Rubria Rocha de Luna and Maricruz Castro Ricalde; individual chapters, the contributors.
