The current work presents a research on how modern technology can support treatments for improving health on everyday situations. In this case, the work is focused on one of the most common type of phobias among the population, the social phobia or also known as social anxiety disorder (SAD), that affects around 4.7% in Mexico. There is strong evidence that a leading way to treat SAD is through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The implementation of Virtual reality (VR) with CBT seems to be promising as an innovative therapy. There are no conclusive results of its effectiveness for social phobia treatment though. Investigation results show that defining a protocol with CBT and VR, including biofeedback, for social phobia treatment might be an effective way to achieve positive results in patients.
