Overview
MFA in Screenwriting from CalState, Northridge (named among the best film schools by Variety and Hollywood Reporter magazines). I was a Fulbright-García Robles scholar, received the FONCA grant twice, the support of PECDA Michoacán three times and IMCINE once.
I directed and wrote the feature films Enero (2013), Andrea en una caja (2014), 100 años Nicolaita (documentary, 2017) and El origen de las princesas (2023). I published the poetry books Clavicordio (UMSNH, 2002) and Todavía es mañana (Diablura/SEMICH, 2015).
I was the coordinator of the Festival de Cine y Video Indígena for 7 years, as well as collaborating in various film festivals in Mexico such as FICM, Shorts Mexico and Cinetekton! I was twice winner of the award for best Michoacán script at FICM. I also won the award for best feature film script (Día Seis) at the Tequila Film Festival and in Caorle, Italy.
I worked in radio for 10 years, collaborating with the Sistema Michacano de Radio y Televisión. I have been a scriptwriter for educational audiovisual products in different instances.
I am currently finishing a PhD in Art and Culture, where my line of research is Mexican cinema and its artistic validation at the Cannes Film Festival.
