Luna-Andrade, José Junior

Overview

Dr. Luna holds a Ph.D. in Manufacturing, with his main research focused on Industrial Engineering, particularly on the application of data science to improve supply chain performance in the aerospace sector. He completed his doctoral studies at Cranfield University and the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom). During the last two years of his Ph.D., he conducted his research at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), part of the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. His research at Cambridge was published in a leading international manufacturing journal. He also presented his results at international conferences, including the International Conference on Operations and Supply Chain Management (United Kingdom) and the International Conference on Through-life Engineering Services (Germany). He previously obtained a Master¿s degree in Aerospace Manufacturing from Cranfield University, United Kingdom. As part of his training, he collaborated on continuous improvement and research and development projects with aerospace companies such as Bombardier (Belfast, Northern Ireland) and Bromford Industries (Birmingham, England). Since July 2020, he has been a professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he has developed consulting and industry-engagement projects with companies such as Porcelanite, Horizontec, Tresco, Sika, SIG, Calor y Control, Arburg, Kostal, Alpla, Tekniplex, Quarder, Mefrup, Polimann, among others. He currently teaches most of his courses in English, as part of the Bachelor in Industrial Engineering (BIE) program. Since 2023, he has been part of the Academic Aspects Team (EAAC) for the Industrial and Systems Engineering program, where he leads, together with a working group, a nationwide project focused on designing and updating the 2026 curriculum for IIS. The results of his work have led him to obtain the Assistant Professor Classification starting in 2024. He also teaches courses and professional programs for companies through the Continuing Education division, focusing on engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and data analytics. Thanks to the results of this work, he has been recognized as a Senior Facilitator and Lead Expert. He has more than five years of full-time professional experience in supply chain management and data science within the manufacturing and engineering sectors, having collaborated with companies such as Bromford Industries (United Kingdom), Bombardier (Northern Ireland), Procter & Gamble (P&G), and Mabe (Mexico). At P&G, he served for four years as a manager in the logistics and supply chain planning area, being responsible for continuous improvement, meeting production requirements, data-driven decision-making, and managing work teams to achieve operational goals. Throughout his academic career, he was awarded the CONACYT scholarship from the Government of Mexico on two occasions, for his master¿s and doctoral studies. He is also an honours graduate of Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Querétaro, where he studied Mechatronics Engineering. He was recognized as the best student of his institution by ANFEI (National Association of Engineering Schools and Faculties) and received the Borrego de Oro award for his participation as a member of the representative tennis team, vice president of the Student Federation Council, and president of the Mechatronics Engineering Student Society. During his studies, he also completed a semester abroad in Paris, France, where he earned a Certificate in Computer-Aided Engineering and Design Applied to the Aerospace Sector.
