Villarreal-Martínez, Karina Elizabeth

Karina Villarreal has been part of the Business and Finance unit at the Tecnológico de Monterrey since November 2012. Karina received her master's degree in Business Enterprise Administration with a specialization in strategy (2016) and in Finance (2018) both from Tecnológico de Monterrey. She also has masters studies in Management of Innovation and Technology at Lappeenrannan Teknillinen Yliopisto (LUT) in Finland (2011) and MS in Accounting at the University of Texas (2022). Karina received a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from Tecnológico de Monterrey. She is particularly interested in addressing challenges associated with personal finance, strategic foresight, and social entrepreneurship. Karina Villarreal has worked in various administrative and commercial roles, with expertise in finance and investment project evaluation. She has been a speaker at the International Conference on Educational Innovation (CIIE) and has conducted numerous workshops on financial and educational topics. With over eleven years of academic experience, Karina Villarreal is a lead tutor professor in the Online Graduate Programs at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She has also coordinated the design of national courses across Business, Engineering, Humanities, and Medicine for the FIT Educational Model. As a pioneer of the Tec21 Model, she has contributed to the development of Financial Management, Financial Decision-Making, and Tec Week: Entrepreneurship with Purpose modules. She has taught courses across various educational models (in-person, hybrid, and digital) both nationally and internationally. Her courses include Structure of Financial Institutions, Finance Seminar, Accounting Seminar, Personal and Corporate Finance, Debt Instruments Management, E-commerce & Technology and Strategic and Business Foresight. Karina Villarreal is part of the Faculty Staff in Accounting and Finance, currently teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses at Tecnológico de Monterrey.
