Overview
Héctor Falcón Villa is an outstanding professional in the field of communication and audiovisual arts, known for his solid academic background and prolific career in both education and the creative industry. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences and a Master's Degree in Fine Arts with a major in Media and Film from Temple University in the United States. Additionally, he holds an International Master's Degree in Total Applied Creativity from the University of Santiago in Spain.
Throughout his career, Héctor has made significant contributions to various sectors such as academia, culture, film, and performing arts. His remarkable performance has earned him the prestigious Fulbright-García Robles scholarship, and he has been an artist-in-residence at renowned institutions such as the MacDowell Colony and a filmmaker-in-residence in programs like Cine Qua Non Lab, LabGuion in Medellín, and DocuLab 7.0 at the Guadalajara Film Festival.
His talent has been recognized internationally, with his film work prominently featured in festivals such as Tribeca, Seminici, Viña del Mar, Palm Springs, Los Angeles Latino, Interfilm Berlin, Morelia, Shorts Mexico, CineSul Brazil, Mórbido, Feratum, and BogoShorts, among many others. Héctor has been nominated for a Silver Goddess and has received awards at the AXN Latin American Film Festival, Pantalla de Cristal, Diamond Film Festival, and Woman's Independent Film Festival.
In academia, Héctor has held numerous key roles at Tecnológico de Monterrey, including Coordinator of Laboratories at the Audiovisual Services Center (2000-2003), Coordinator of the Media Center (2003-2007), Regional Director of Academic Projects (2019-2023), and Regional Department Director (2023-2024).
He has also been a pivotal figure in the development of communication and film in Querétaro, serving as a member of the citizen council of the AM newspaper and as a jury member of the Colombian Film Development Fund. Currently, he is the secretary of the board of directors of the Cofradía de la cinematografía y el audiovisual en Querétaro and represents the state of Querétaro in the Red Nacional de Cinematografías Estatales (RENACE), where he works on local filmmaking development and the decentralization of film in Mexico.
As a consultant, Héctor has been an instructor in extension programs and a didactic designer for the leadership program Yo Soy Líder NWL for the Newland School, as well as the Aprendizaje Lúdico Flexible program for the LAMAT Foundation of the Ciudad Maderas corporation.
He is currently the Division Director of the School of Humanities and Education at the Querétaro Campus and continues his work as a filmmaker and consultant in creativity, education, and communication. In his teaching role, he has taught at multiple Tec de Monterrey campuses and has been recognized for his academic excellence with awards such as the Estrella recognition and Best Teacher of the Generation.
In 2022, Héctor released his most recent short film, "El Mito," and is about to release the documentary "El Último Amanecer," in addition to developing new film productions.
