Oscar Benjamín Pérez Alcalástudied classical guitar at the University of the Americas-Puebla.Graduated with Honorable Mention from the Master's Degree in Composition from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and is currently studying a Ph. D. in Composition at that same university. He has a Ph. D. in Creation and Theories of Culture from the University of the Americas-Puebla and a Master in Aesthetics and Art from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. He is a full-time professor of the Technology and Musical Production Program at the Tecnológico de MonterreyCampus Puebla, where he has been named part of the Circle of OutstandingProfessors of the School of Humanities and Education for two consecutive years. He has been the winner of the VIInternational Composition Competition for String Quartet "Our America" 2016, of the III Manuel M. Ponce National Composition Competition 2017, and of the GrandWinner PC-Game Best Music at the NYX Game Awards 2021 for the composition of the soundtrack of the video game Greak: Memories of Azur. His music has been recorded by the José White String Quartet (Nuestra América: Ediciones 2015 and 2016), the Latin American Quartet (Reflectus; 2023), the 5 de Mayo Symphony Orchestra(Greak: Memories of Azur, 2023 digital edition and limited edition 1xLP BlueVinyl Record) and by the vocal sextet Túumben Paax (Morir de almendra amara: songs for suicidal women poets, 2023). His works have been presented in various forums and festivals such as the Music Mexico 2023 Symposium at the University of Houston (USA), Salón Latino Chamber Music Series at the School of Music at Indiana University (USA), The DiMenna Center for the Classical Music (USA), Ibero-American Seminar and National Guitar Competition of the Tolima Conservatory (Colombia), XLVI International Cervantino Festival, "Manuel Enríquez" International New Music Forum, INBAL-SACM Conference; Manuel M. Ponce Music Festival; Zacatecas National Violin Meeting, among others. Notable performers of his music are Cuahutémoc Rivera, Nathan Fischer, Clara Loisch, Manuel Espinás; Mexico City Woodwind Quintet; Túumben Paax, José White Quartet, Cuarteto Latinoamericano, Zacatecas Philharmonic Orchestra; 5 de Mayo Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata of the City of Zacatecas; Symphony Orchestra of the Universidad Panamericana, among others. Important orchestra conductors such as Fernando Lozano, Samuel Pascoe, Rey Alejandro Conde, Alfredo Ibarra Rodrigo Cadet, and Gabriel Pliego have directed his works.
