Vieyra-Balboa, Gabriela Elena

Overview

Gabriela Vieyra Balboa has a degree in International Affairs, a Masters in Educational Technology and in Humanistic Studies, a PhD in Humanistic Studies with an emphasis on Ethics, at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, México City Campus. She's been a professor in this institution since 1999, teaching Modern and Contemporary History, Art and Culture, Regional Scenarios, Global Agenda, Philosophy, Ethics, Self and Society, and Social Entrepreneurship. She coordinated the Model United Nations conference MEXMUN from 1999 to 2002. In 2009 she was awarded the Mexico City Campus's Golden Ram for the Best Professor of High School, again in 2013 as the Best Professor of the School Humanities and Social Sciences, and in 2016 as Professor of Excellence of the School of Humanities and Education. From 2010 to 2014, she was the director of two undergraduate programs: Humanities and Social Sciences, and Cultural and Social Entrepreneurship. Since 2012 she's in change of the entrepreneurship program at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. She participated in the Pragmatic Entrepreneurship Program, led by Alexander Osterwalder, Bob Dorf, Ash Maurya, Paul Ahlstrom y Nathan Furr. In 2013, she participated with the Entrepreneur Magazine Mexico in the special report and video report How to Make Money through Art, published in March, and during the summer, she collaborated with the University of North Texas' Innovation Greenhouse director, Nancy Hong, in the exchange of best practices for the impulse of social entrepreneurship among undergrad students and for the involvement of universities in a community's development. In 2014, she was a consultant for the Business Incubator at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City as an expert in entrepreneurial projects with a social impact and in association with civil society organizations. From October 2014 to June 2017, she's the head of the Communication and Humanities Department in Campus Santa Fe. Currently she's the Head of the Division of Humanities and Education in said campus.
