González-Hernández, Mario Alain

Overview

Mario González is Assistant Professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Hidalgo. He has obtained his PhD from the University of Hull, UK, as a part-time student. His research topic illustrated the development of people's capabilities through knowledge by analyzing the case-study of a social entrepreneurship initiative that has created a huge impact on a rural community of Mexico. Prior to this, he received an MBA with specialization on Management of Technology from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore; a BEng in Computer Systems Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico; and a Certification as Business Coach from the Newfield Consulting Group. Mr. González's teaching interests include Management of Innovation, Prospective Studies, Knowledge Management, Management of Technology, Entrepreneurship, Citizenship, and Capstone courses. He has been teaching courses on these areas during more than 18 years at undergraduate and executive levels. Prior to committing as full time professor, Mario González has worked for Tecnológico de Monterrey as Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Official of International Relations and Program Director, Industrial and Systems Engineering since 1996. His research interests include Knowledge Management and Knowledge-based Development, Social Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and the role that Universities and Government play in promoting these areas. He enjoys participating in research projects that promote cross-disciplinary approaches to understand social phenomena. In these areas he has published papers and case studies, and participated in conferences mainly in the area of development, sustainability and technological change, working with researchers from leading institutions such as Yale University, in the US; the University of Waterloo, in Canada; and Tecnológico de Monterrey, in Mexico. In addition to his teaching and research activities, Mr. González offers consulting services to business organizations in different fields of Industrial Engineering and Human Resource Management. His projects in this field have included the areas of Quality, Productivity, Continuous Improvement, Employee Attraction and Evaluation, Project Management, among others.
