Jiménez-Martín, Elena

Overview

Elena Jiménez has a long career as a teacher, researcher, and trainer in the areas of Linguistics, Language Teaching, Pragmatics, Educational Innovation, and Interculturality. She has worked as a university lecturer, business consultant, and translator in several countries around the world, including Sweden, the USA, England, and Trinidad and Tobago. She published in London the textbooks Sigue 1 and 2 for the preparation of the Spanish A levels exams, and later, she settled in Mexico where she works for the Tec de Monterrey as a teacher and researcher, and author of 5 more books (Aula Latina 1,2,3 and En Marcha 1,2,3) and 30 research articles in various national and international publications. She is fluent in 4 languages and can communicate in 2 others. In the area of education, she has directed 88 master's theses in the graduate program in which students from various Latin American countries participate. Among her main interests are also art and culture and, therefore, to contribute to the promotion of creativity and an artistic sense among her students, she has participated in projects such as Enseña con Pasión, Aprende con Imaginación, or Storytelling en Acción para la Educación, and the implementation of Gamification in her language courses. She is the author of a book of poetry, Las islas y el silencio, and an active member of international projects on the study of the Mexican variant and politeness in real speech corpora.
