Carrillo-Avila, Jorge

Overview

Jorge Carrillo Ávila combines a solid background with a focus on sustainable urban design and educational innovation. He has distinguished himself by leading impactful projects and teaching as a director at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. He currently promotes academic innovation at the Toluca campus. Academic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the Instituto Tecnológico de Durango, where he also received the José Gutiérrez Osornio Medal for academic merit. In 2013, he earned a Master's degree in Architecture and New Urbanism from the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Querétaro campus. Professional Career He founded his own architecture firm, focusing on urban projects such as accessibility in the city of Oaxaca and the proposed redevelopment of Dolores del Río Boulevard in Durango, a project that won the Silver Medal at the Ricardo Castro Architecture Biennial. Since November 2014, he has served as a director at the School of Architecture, Art, and Design at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. He has also been invited as a speaker at state forums on urban planning, including the conference entitled "Cities in Transformation". Present He is the director of the School of Architecture, Art, and Design at the Toluca campus of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. In this role, he led the commemoration of the anniversary of the Architecture and Design programs, highlighting the development of an educational environment that promotes innovation and multidisciplinary work, as well as urban and mobility design.
