Cruz-Aburto, Aura Rosalía
Overview
Aura holds a bachelor of architecture from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico City as well as a Master in Industrial Design from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She graduated with honors in both cases. Additionally, she currently studies in the undergraduate program of Philosophy at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
Aura has lectured and coordinated discussion panels at several academic congresses in Mexico and abroad. Her theoretical and research work has been published nationally and internationally too. She has contributed as an author in Design Frontiers, Territories, Concepts and Technologies published by Editorial Designio, as well as in Diseño Industrial. Formación, propósitos y acciones, published by Colección de Textos, Facultad de Arquitectura, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Additionally, she has edited books about architecture and urbanism such as México, Ciudad Futura, published by Editorial RM, which principal author is architect Alberto Kalach. She also has been participated in the scientific committee of Nexus magazine in order to select articles to be published and also has contributed with writings to Arquine journal. Aura also belongs to the Latin-American Federation of Semiotics and to the Association of Visual and Space Semiotic Studies.
She has been involved in curatorial projects for architecture, design and art since 2005 when she was introduced in this area as a curatorial assistant of Jose Castillo (a|911) for Mexico City Dialogues exhibition, Center for Architecture, New York City. She had taught Curatorial Studies and Critical Production for Design at the Design School of Fine Arts Mexican Institute, and also at undergraduate program of Industrial Design at UNAM, and currently teaches in undergraduate program of Architecture and Design of ITESM, in graduate program for Industrial Design at UNAM, and recently at the architecture undergraduate program at Universidad Iberoamericana.
Aura was part of a|911's team from 2015 to 2017, when she moved to CACTUSMX, a landscape design firm, in order to become its creative director.
Currently, Aura is studying her doctoral studies in Philosophy of Science with the project "Philosophy of Design".
