Alfredo graduated with a degree in Electronic Technologies Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Ciudad de México, in 2010, where he pursued a concentration in telecommunications and received honors, including recognition for the highest GPA in his graduating class. In 2007, he earned second place in the individual category of the Fourth Integral Marathon. In 2015, he completed a master¿s degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in signal processing at UNAM, which included an international research stay at the IMS laboratory of Université Bordeaux I, France. He later earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Aalborg University, Denmark, in 2021, specializing in speech processing as a member of the Audio Analysis Lab. During his doctoral studies, he completed a research stay at Lund University, Sweden, collaborating with a research group.
After completing his Ph.D., Alfredo worked for two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Sheffield, UK, focusing on artificial intelligence and deep learning for speech synthesis. He has also worked in the private sector and in government, contributing to telecommunications regulation. Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, he accumulated significant teaching experience.
Alfredo has presented his research at prestigious conferences such as ICASSP and Interspeech. He has also served as a reviewer for ICASSP, Interspeech, IEEE Access, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, and the EURASIP Journal on Audio, Speech and Music Processing. His research interests include voice analysis, signal modeling, robust parameter estimation, and non-autoregressive models for text-to-speech synthesis. Additionally, he organized the first Sheffield Speech Synthesis Workshop.
