Escobedo-Ruíz, Nélida Astrid

Overview

Architect from Tecnológico de Monterrey, holds a Master's in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan. Nélida focuses her work on public space, the relationship between the city and early childhood development, and affordable housing. She is the Academic Director of the Urban95 Academy program-Latin America Programme, a collaboration between LSE Cities, the Van Leer Foundation, the FEMSA Foundation, and Tecnológico de Monterrey. She currently works at the Center for the Future of Cities at Tecnológico de Monterrey and is an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture, Art, and Design. Previously, she coordinated the Monterrey region for the C+Lab platform at the same institution. Throughout her career, she has participated in international cooperation projects, notably for the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Mexico, specifically for the C40 Cities Finance Facility program. She also worked as a Research Associate at the Harvard Graduate School of Design in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
