Garza-González, Claudia Verónica
Overview
Professor, academic researcher, and independent visual artist. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Visual and Media Arts from CEDIM (Monterrey, Mexico). I completed a specialization in Printmaking and Illustration at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and earned a Master's degree in Research in Art and Creation from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid.
My research interests include contemporary digital narratives, game studies, and the future of social interaction through technology. My visual work has been exhibited in museums and galleries across Mexico City, Monterrey, Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris. I have been awarded grants on two occasions by FONCA and CONARTE.
I have participated as a speaker in conferences and symposia on art, technology, and urbanism organized by UNESCO (Monterrey), Laboratorio para la Ciudad (Mexico City), Centro de Cultura Digital (Mexico City), Medialab Prado (Madrid), Universidad Iberoamericana (Mexico City), IAM Weekend (Barcelona), and the Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA). In recent years, I have delivered workshops and lectures at Aalto University (Finland) and the NYU Game Center (USA).
Since 2025, I have been a member and Virtual Exchange alumni of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Foundation. Since 2024, I have served as a jury member for the Independent Games Festival (IGF), evaluating submissions in the Student Award category.
Regarding my administrative career, I served as Program Coordinator and adjunct professor for the Digital Art, Animation, and Interactive Design programs at CEDIM (Monterrey) from 2014 to 2017. In 2018, I joined Tecnológico de Monterrey as Director of the Animation and Digital Art program. I am currently an Assistant Professor and, since 2022, Regional Head of the Arts Department for the Central-West region, based at the Guadalajara campus.
