Egurrola-Hernández, Edgar Alan

Overview

Environmental Engineer with a Master's in Engineering and Quality Management, specializing in spatial analysis and data-driven territorial narratives. His master's thesis examined public policy on air quality for the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, laying the groundwork for his interdisciplinary approach bridging environmental science, urban planning, and governance. Since 2018, he has taught university courses in Architecture and Urban Planning at Tec de Monterrey, training students in spatial analysis for decision-making and the communication of results through maps and data visualizations, with a particular emphasis on building empirically grounded narratives. He currently coordinates the data analysis area at the Cities Observatory, part of the Cities Initiative at the School of Architecture, Art and Design of Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he leads algorithm development and indicator production to communicate territorial findings to diverse audiences. His track record includes participation in consulting and research projects with international reach, with collaborations in Chile, Taiwan, Ecuador, and Colombia, as well as with Sorbonne University. He has contributed to projects funded by organizations such as Volvo, the IDB, and INFONAVIT, strengthening ties between academia, the public sector, and international cooperation. He recently participated in the design of courses for the 2026 curriculum update of the undergraduate programs in Architecture, Urban Planning, Design, and Digital Arts, and teaches faculty training courses on spatial data management for professors at Tecnológico de Monterrey. His work stands out for translating complex territorial dynamics into clear, actionable narratives, bringing together technical rigor, social sensitivity, and a commitment to teaching to contribute to the understanding and transformation of territory from academia.
