Zapata-Upegui, Luis Felipe

Overview

Luis Felipe Zapata Upegui Business Administrator from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia), with a Master¿s and Ph.D. in Creation, Strategy, and Business Management from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). He has extensive professional experience in academic and administrative leadership roles, managing multidisciplinary teams and developing organizational strategies aimed at improving institutional performance, fostering educational innovation, and promoting experiential learning. He is a certified facilitator and designer of workshops using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology, focused on developing executive competencies such as leadership, strategic thinking, innovation, and teamwork. Since 2007, he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in strategy, marketing, and international business, integrating theoretical foundations with active, student-centered learning methodologies. Currently, he serves as Director of the Department of Management and Leadership for the Northwest Region at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he is also a member of the Academic Curriculum Support Team (EAAC) for the Bachelor in Strategy and Transformation (LAET) program. He previously served as Coordinator of the CIAC at Campus Sonora Norte, participated in COIL projects through the Global Classroom program, and led a NOVUS innovation project that measured the impact of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology on student engagement among first-year business students. In addition, he is the creator of the national Game Room laboratory for the Business School, an innovative space designed to foster experiential learning through LEGO® Serious Play, board games, and escape rooms. He has trained faculty members from all regions of Mexico in the effective use of these methodologies. A highly adaptable professional with a comprehensive vision of business and educational management, he is committed to developing leaders capable of generating strategic, innovative, and social impact in complex and evolving environments.
