Hernández-Narváez, Dora Elia

I am convinced that there is no work more transcendent than education, nor a more noble vocation than to train people to be useful to themselves and to society. My academic life at Tecnológico de Monterrey began in 1988 as a teaching assistant and I am currently an associate professor and associate director of the Bioengineering department at the School of Engineering and Sciences. I studied Mycology and Plant Virology at the University of Florida, Gainesville ,. Master of Science with a specialty in Plant Health and I am an Agricultural Engineer Parasitologist from ITESM. I received the Monterrey Campus-Ex-A-Tec Association award for the development of Course Redesign Projects, and recently in 2015 I received recognition as an inspiring professor for outstanding teaching work and academic leader. I participate in Departmental Committees, of the School and of the North Zone Rectory, I was a representative in the CIIGE Organizing Committee, I have recently been elected as a national senator of the School of Engineering and Sciences. I have been part of the committees of study plans and in the design of courses and evaluation of academic programs, I have participated in extension courses in Mexico and South America and presented research papers at Congresses in Mexico, the United States, Brazil, New Zealand and Argentina. I am a mycologist and nematologist certified at the national level by the Directorate of Plant Health, Mexico and I serve as a national signatory of a diagnostic laboratory and national verifier of certified fruit of origin obtained by the DGSV Associate Editor of the Revista Mexicana de Fitopatología and active member of the Mexican Society of Phytopathology, and of the Latin American Association of Phytopathology, Throughout more than 20 years as a teacher I have worked for my development both in professional discipline and academically, in such a way that the first gives me the necessary experiences to take them to the classroom and the second allows me to do it in the most adequate.
