Picca,Laura Beatriz

Born in Uruguay, with Italian nationality, she completed her undergraduate studies in Industrial Design at the Design Center of the University of the Republic (UDELAR) in Uruguay. She subsequently received a scholarship from the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation to pursue a Master's degree in Design, Management, and Development of New Products at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where she also earned her doctorate in Design, "Mediterranean Design: Foundations for the Creation of a Model," graduating with highest honors (Cum Laude). With over 25 years of professional experience in various countries and sectors, she has received numerous international design awards. Experienced in telecommunications and home automation projects, she specializes in the habitat sector, conducting trend and future analyses, as well as in cultural and identity design. Since 2022, she has been a full-time professor and researcher at the EAAD (School of Art, Design, and Architecture) at the Puebla Campus, and a member of the research group, Advanced Design Processes for Sustainable Transformation. Active researcher, doctoral thesis advisor, reviewer, and member of doctoral thesis committees. Recent achievements at the Institution include: Regular participation in national and international scientific conferences, a book chapter in a COMAPROD publication, and presentations at the annual COMAPROD and DIntegra design forums. Member of Technical Committees and double-blind evaluations. Panelist at the ITESM Journalism Leadership Circle (EAAD Central-South Region) 2023. Co-author of the paper, The Perception of Design in Mexico, RSD12 Symposium, July 2023. Evaluator of university programs at international institutions (Uruguay). Collaborator with ORT University (Montevideo). External consultant on the future of design education at the Autonomous University of Morelos. Recently admitted to the National System of Researchers (SNI) of Uruguay.
