Staines-Díaz, León Guillermo

Overview

Throughout his academic and professional career, León Staines Díaz has focused on topics related to housing, public space, urban planning, social coexistence, and, more recently, the integration of communities into decision-making processes. He earned his degree in Architecture in 2007 from FARQ-UANL and completed a Master's in Urban Affairs in 2014. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Community and Regional Planning program at the University of Texas at Austin, funded by CONTEX-CONACYT. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Best Research in Urbanism Award from the American Planning Association ¿ Texas Chapter, an Honorable Mention at the 2017 Nuevo León Biennale in the museography category, and first place at the national level (and second place internationally) in the Obras Cemex Awards in the Accessibility Consistency category. Additionally, he won the Crystal Calli and the Gold Medal at the 2023 Nuevo León Biennale in the vertical housing category, as well as another Crystal Calli for research. Currently, he is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNII) at the Candidate Level. He is an international speaker on architecture, social urbanism, and well-being-oriented urban models. He is a full-time professor at the School of Architecture, Art, and Design (EAAD) at Tecnológico de Monterrey, where he also leads the C-Lab, an urban and architectural consultancy.
