Alessandra Savina (PhD) is a Full Professor oriented to Research at the Escuela de Arquitectura, Arte y Diseño (EAAD) of Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Ciudad de México. She teaches Systemic Design, adopting a design thinking approach and promoting a methodology grounded in the holistic analysis of project scenarios and the interconnection between productive, social, cultural and environmental systems.
She earned her PhD in Management, Production and Design from the Department of Architecture and Design at Politecnico di Torino (Italy), with a dissertation focused on the design of integrated networks between agri-food and health systems to enhance public health through more sustainable food models.
She later worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Applied Science and Technology of Politecnico di Torino, where she conducted multidisciplinary studies on the use of bio-based and recycled materials in the industrial product sector, and at the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo ¿ founded by Slow Food ¿ where she contributed to European projects aimed at co-designing circular practices in the restaurant sector, urban living labs, urban agriculture, and sustainable urban food policies.
Her research explores systemic and circular approaches to food, health, and sustainability, with a specific focus on the valorization of food waste and the design of low-impact food production and consumption models.
