Villarreal-Guevara, María Guadalupe

Overview

I am Guadalupe Villarreal, Tenured Professor with 31 years of experience at the Tec. I joined the University in 1990, after completing postgraduate studies at the University of Columbia. In our community, I have been a professor in different departments and schools, I have participated as a researcher, director of research projects sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation, F. Ford, UNESCO, CONACYT and Tec de Monterrey. I have been a speaker, evaluator, and advisor at research conferences (CIIE and Research Congress) and collaborated on Tec Committees. The most recent, the Academic Integrity Committee. I have received several awards among which the recognition of the Human Sense and the best evaluated Professor in previous plans (2021) stand out. What has honored me the most during my time at the institution is having been one of the first female speakers at the Research Congress in 1993. I have collaborated in the Tec21 Model in different facets. I have written research articles in Mexico, the United States, Spain, and Japan. My participation with the chapter "Interpreting the Educational Effects of Compensatory Programs in Mexico" in the book "Poverty Alleviation Strategies in North America" used as a textbook at Harvard University, has been one of my greatest academic achievements. Likewise, I would like to highlight having collaborated with three of the most renowned researchers in educational policy, Dr. Carlos Muñoz Izquierdo from University Iberoamericana, Dr. Carlos Ornelas, UAM, and Dr. Fernando Reimers, University of Harvard. As far as professional activity stays are concerned, I have participated as a guest professor at Columbia University, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and UAM. In terms of professional collaboration networks, I maintain academic contact with Dr. Ramón Cabrera from the University of the Havana Cuba; Carlos Ornelas from UAM and Dr. María Luisa García Bermejo, UCM. Regarding the Coordination of initiatives within professional associations, I collaborate as an educational advisor in the Education Board of the Polígono Campana-Altamira. In relation to Participation in the community, I have been a volunteer at the public school, Profesora Dávila, located in DistritoTec, a "Passion for Reading", project that supported different communities in Izúcar de Matamoros, Puebla, and a volunteer at Polígono Campana-Altamira, among others. Regarding the student development of projects and national and international activities, I would like to point out the orientation that I have provided to students so that they can carry out postgraduate studies in national and international universities. I highlight a closer support with students interested in attending Columbia University since I completed my postgraduate degree there. Likewise, I have encouraged them to participate in calls such as the Fulbright Scholarship. Likewise, I have involved postgraduate students from the School of Government and Public Transformation for the National investigation of the Oportunidades program sponsored by CONACYT, resulting in several publications. I was recently selected as a Senator by the EAAD, which honors me.
