Ramírez-Figueroa, Iván
Overview
Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Toronto with a specialization in Comparative, International, and Development Education. I also hold an MBA from EGADE Business School with a concentration in Global Strategy and Leadership completed at McGill University. I have 20 years of experience in the field of education, fifteen of them in higher education. I have served as a professor in the fields of education and business. I have directed undergraduate and graduate academic programs, have led internationalization strategies, and have coordinated areas of student leadership and development (LiFE).
I possess pedagogical competencies in key areas such as knowledge construction, course design and delivery, curricular innovation, and student engagement through meaningful learning experiences. These competencies have been validated by the Higher Education Teaching Certificate, awarded by the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning at Harvard University, as well as the Certification as Innovation Professional from the Global Innovation Management Institute, which endorses my ability to implement innovative strategies and techniques in the development of academic programs and educational projects. I have also led internationalization strategies and directed academic collaboration projects with universities from various parts of the world, including student exchange programs, global classroom activities, global forums, seminars, and conferences. Additionally, I have had the rewarding experience of coordinating programs of "LiFE", aimed at the holistic development of students through sports, arts, culture, and the participation in student associations activities.
As a professor at the undergraduate and graduate levels, my teaching areas include business administration, leadership and strategy, educational management and team empowerment, innovation and entrepreneurship, global and comparative education, and research methodologies. My research focuses on the internationalization of higher education. In academic administration, I have served as Program Director of the B.A. in Strategy and Business Transformation (LAE), and I currently lead the Specialization in Management for Educational Leadership and Innovation (EGE) and the Master's in Educational Entrepreneurship (MTO). I have also been responsible for the academic coordination of graduate programs, both master's and doctoral, and for the administration of research projects.
This academic and professional background, combined with my experience in diverse global environments, has strengthened my multicultural competencies and my ability to contribute to the integration of inclusive and diversity-oriented policies. Furthermore, it provides me with a unique combination of academic, leadership, and intercultural skills, enabling me to design and implement global education programs and effectively lead multidisciplinary teams.
