Professor Rivas has a PhD in Business with a specialty in Technology Based Entrepreneurship from the University of Cantabria in Spain. Additionally, he has a Master's degree in Science, one in Business and one in Strategic Foresight. His Research area is focused on strategic entrepreneurship based on innovation, technology and knowledge.
Professor Rivas is a consultant and extension professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and assigned to the Vice-Rectory of Continuing Education of this same institution. He has conducted several investigations and coordinated more than 100 training and consulting projects for business, public and social development, in different contexts in Latin America.
During his stay at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, he has held management positions in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of the Mexico City Campus and in the Systems and Planning Center of the Strategic Studies area of the Rectory of the System. In addition, he has carried out teaching activities in several campuses of Tecnológico de Monterrey, as well as in various countries such as Spain, Peru, Nicaragua and Bolivia.
Currently, he is the academic coordinator of the Master in Innovation for Business Development, as well as coordinator of extension activities in the area of Planning and Strategic Management by the Vice-Rectory of Continuing Education.
