Roberto Parra is the Professor of Bioengineering, Chemical and Biotechnology Engineering at Tecnologico de Monterrey. He is the Chair of Sustainable and Applied Biotechnology group at Tecnologico de Monterrey. Dr. Parra is a Biochemical Engineer, Master in Food Science and Ph D in Biotechnology at Cranfield University, UK. Prof. Parra was a Postdoc at Westminster University, London UK working in FP 6 EU funded project on Biocatalysis (2005-2008), also he has experience as visiting professor at Harvard University and MIT at Langer Lab group (2017-2018). His laboratory has pioneered numerous technologies and materials for food, environment and health for industry on enzymes, microalgae and new products for health. Dr. Parra has been the leader of more than 50 funded projects with various companies such as Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKlane, Heineken, CocaCola, FEMSA, Membranology, Harimasa among others. He has authored ~150 journal papers and 5 books/chapters and 5 patents. He belongs to SNI Level II, Mexican Academy of Science and Director for international networks (LIDA).
