Arroyo-Buruato, María de la Luz
Overview
I was born in Monterrey, Mexico. I have a B.A. in Applied Linguistics by The Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon and a Master´s Degree in Arts and Humanities by New Mexico State University. After I graduated from college, I had the opportunity of living a very meaningful international experience: I went to the United States to teach Spanish and Mexican culture to college students. It was at that moment when I decided what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, professionally speaking: to be a teacher, to work with people from different cultural backgrounds, to show them all my country and my culture have to offer.
As a faculty member there are a lot of responsibilities, but when I'm in the classroom I connect with students and forget about everything else. I can hardly wait to be in the classroom. It's the best time of the day. When I see a student using the material he or she has learned in my classroom it's like everything you've worked for and all the energy you have put in is paid back to you. They teach me. I grow every day because of what I learn and relearn from my students. Working with students is my fountain of youth.
