Bautista-Alférez, Alma Edith

Overview

Edith Bautista, linguist and Master in Education with a specialization in Cognitive Development, began her teaching career in 1988 and joined Tec de Monterrey in 1991. She served as a professor in the Humanities Department and as the Curriculum Development Coordinator in the Academic Area of International Programs. Since 2007, she has been a professor and Coordinator of the Spanish as a Foreign Language Center in the Regional Department of Languages. She is the co-author of "Aula Latina" and "Nuevo Español en Marcha," methods for teaching Spanish to foreigners. She participated in the development of the website for the Center for Academic Writing Resources (CREA) and is the founder of AMELE, the Mexican Association of Spanish as a Foreign Language. In 2016, she received the Professional Excellence Recognition awarded by UANL to distinguished alumni. From November 2019 to May 2022, she served as the Chief Translator for the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Spanish version, edited by the Vice Presidency of Inclusion, Social Impact, and Sustainability. From August 2017 to July 2020, she served as the Associate Director of the Regional Department of Languages, Northern Zone, at Tec de Monterrey. From 2020 to 2022, she was the Director of the Department of Languages and the Language Centers of the Monterrey Region. She is currently a full-time professor. Since 2020, she has been the Coordinator of National Groups of the School of Humanities and Education.
