Alanís-Dávila, David Angel

Overview

Dr. David Angel Alanís Dávila obtained his B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from ITESM, Campus Monterrey in 1976. After he earned his undergraduate degree he worked as a Computer Systems Analyst in "Siderúrgica Lázaro Cárdenas" an Iron & Steel Metallurgic Enterprise. In 1977 he began to collaborate as Systems Analyst at the "Secretaría de Planeación y Presupuesto" (Planning and Budget Ministry) in México, D.F.. Dr. Alanís traveled to Paris, France in 1979 to study his Master degree in Management Information Systems majoring in Data bases at the University of Paris -IX- Dauphine. In 1984 at the same institution he obtained a Ph.D. degree with honors in Information Systems, his research area was Telematics: videotext and teletext services,. From January 1985 to June 1992, he coordinated the Computer Science Engineering program at CETYS University in Tijuana, B.C., teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Since July 1992 to June 2011 Dr. Alanís Dávila was a full time professor of the Information Systems Department. He was coordinator of the Management Information Systems undergraduate program from 1997 to 2000 (LSCA) at ITESM, Campus Monterrey. His teaching activities included courses in the undergraduate, master and doctoral programs. He collaborated also in the ITESM Virtual University (distance learning program) in the planning and teaching of information systems undergraduate and graduate courses and in the EGADE (Business) and EGAP (Political Science) Graduate Schools teaching courses related to Information Systems. He has participated as principal adviser in more than 110 research theses related to Information Systems and Computer Science (Management Support and Strategic Systems, E-business, Information Strategic Planning, Multimedia Information Systems and Electronic Commerce). He has been a visiting Lecturer in different Universities. Since July 2011 he has been appointed as Professor Emeritus of the Information Systems Department at ITESM Campus Monterrey, nowadays he is a part time professor. Dr. Alanís has taught diverse courses, seminars and conferences related to Information Systems in México and abroad. He has participated as a consultant in various organizations in areas related to Management Support Systems and Strategic Planning.
