Leetoy-López, Salvador

Overview

Salvador Leetoy (https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1203-0939) is a professor of global communication and cultural studies at the Tecnologico de Monterrey, Guadalajara Campus. He is a member of the Mexican Researchers System (SNI, Tier I). He holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from the University of Alberta (2008) and an MSc in Communication from the Tecnologico de Monterrey (1998). Professor Leetoy was a Fulbright Scholar in Residence at Drake University in Des Moines, IA (2017-2018). He has been a visiting fellow in the Dept of International Area Studies in the University of California, Berkeley (2010); the Dept of Journalism in the University of Seville (2011); and in the Dept of Communication Studies in the University of San Diego (2013). Professor Leetoy was head of the research groups "Applied Ethics and Citizenship" (2013-2014) and "Communication, Globalization and Cultural Studies (2009-2013) at Tecnologico de Monterrey. He was chair of the Department of Humanities and Citizen Education (2014-2015). Currently, he is the director of Virtualis, the digital culture journal of the Tecnológico de Monterrey. He is the regional representative for Latin America and the Caribbean for the Association for Cultural Studies. His research interests are participatory communication, studies of the subaltern, and technopolitics.
