Pérez-Hermosillo, José Edgardo

Overview

He studied the bachelor program in Mechanical Engineering at the Tecnologico de Monterrey Campus Querétaro, from 1979 to 1983. He did his master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Campus Monterrey, from 1984 to 1985 and did his PhD program in Industrial Engineering at the Arizona State University from 1993 to 1996. He always had a special interest in the academic work, since he began teaching at the Open High School of the Tecnologico de Monterrey Campus Querétaro, and later he was Coordinator of the physics area. All these activities at the same time he was a student in the mechanical engineering undergraduate program. He is evaluator of the Council for the Accreditation of Engineering Education in México (CACEI) and is founding member of the Mexican Council for Aeronautical Education (COMEA). In 2008, the government of the State of Queretaro recognized him for the leadership of the Center for the Development of the Aeronautical Industry (CEDIA) for the Aeronautical Suppliers Development Program of the State of Queretaro. In 2013 he was recognized by the Campus Queretaro Board of Trustees President (ESCAC) for the development of the Technological Park in Queretaro. He officially started working at the Tecnologico de Monterrey Campus Queretaro in January 1986 as a professor in the Mechanical Engineering department, after he completed his master's degree. In1987 he became part of the Manufacturing Systems Center in Campus Queretaro, first as a researcher an later on, from 1988 to 1993, as a director, where he had the opportunity to carry out projects with various companies in the region using Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD / CAM) systems, which made him a pioneer in the use of these systems in industry and academia. After he finished his PhD program, in 1997, he was reinstated as a professor in the department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. In 1998 he was appointed director of the same department, until 2000, where he was invited to work at the Campus Leon. From 2000 to 2005 he worked at the Campus Leon as a Dean of Undergraduate Programs and returned to the Campus Queretaro in 2005 as Director of Continuous Education department, at that time, he was in charge of starting the Shingo Prize office in Mexico. In 2006 he was invited to start a new project as Director of the Center for the Development of the Aeronautical Industry (CEDIA), where he had the opportunity to coordinate different activities such as a study on the aeronautical industry in Mexico, a program for the development of suppliers of the aeronautical industry, co-designing the concentration in aeronautics, promoting different activities of collaboration with the aeronautical industry and developing different R&D projects in the aeronautical field. From 2010 to 2014 he was the director of the Technology Park in Campus Queretaro, where he participated since its conception, start-up and development. With the Technology Park model collaboration networks were generated between companies and successful technology entrepreneurial companies. In 2014 he was appointed Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Division, with the responsibility of directing the entrepreneurship strategies for campus students and the business incubation and acceleration service for the external community. In 2015 he was appointed Director of the Engineering and Architecture Division of the Queretaro Campus and in 2017 Dean of the Central Region of the School of Engineering and Sciences, with the responsibility of deploying the national engineering strategies to the Mexican central region that includes the Queretaro, San Luis Potosí, León, Morelia and Irapuato campuses.
